Dear investors,
Most of the investors including me,are disappointed due to the turn of events post budget, but when we look at why market is behaving like this! any big negative has been pushed in the budget, yes it touched the ego of Foreign Portfolio Investors and Super rich.
What else nothing, so if FPI start selling will the market have a free fall, the answer is big no.Why because retail investors and Domestic institutions are big investors in the market than FPI or FII’s
What is the problem, I as a wealth manager i pay 18 per cent GST and 30 per cent tax in my professional income, in net 48% and as an honest tax payer I have no objection, because in India economically more than 129 crore people below me so I have no complaint? But whereas FPI come into India and invest through trust and they get tax benefits and enjoy higher return than my fellow Indian.
So, when government told FPI should invest as Corporate not as Trust they got angry and started to sell in Indian equity market.
Those in the equity market and following regulatory developments over the years, know how FII’s behaved in 2008 when FII’s where told to register come clean on their Indian investments. They hammered the market, Mr Damodaran, being an honest officer told them nothing doing. In less than 12 months no of FII’s registered in India has doubled and market delivered 60- 130 per cent return between 2009-2010.
Come to super rich they are taxed below my rate and they are hardly 5000 in India they decide to teach lesson so, they are also selling in the market.
What retail investors should do now?
It is clearly that despite 1-2 years of your investments, your portfolio could have returned in single digit or still in red.Equity markets never deliver returns in straight line and it is not the characteristic of it.So,investments will test your patience and sure with good advisor he will help you to manage your stress and be with you till you reach your financial goals.
On this count yours truly is with you.
Be patient, your returns are assured and markets have proved several times after corrections or dull period.
So, how long I need to wait? may be till the 3 quarter results are announced.

Yours Suresh Parthasarathy.
